Three generations of the Muga family are part of the history of Rioja wine. Bodegas Muga was founded by Isaac Muga Martínez in 1932. The winery is currently located in a beautiful Rioja mansion in the heart of Haro's wine region. Being faithful to tradition and artisan production, together with a vision of the future, has created its own personality and this is transmitted in our wines.
The origin of these wines, their own vineyards in the Rioja Alta and the tempranillo variety, are the essence of their wines. At Muga, the cooperage is a traditional production process. Fermentation and maceration in wooden vats, slow decanting throughout the winter, traditional gravity racking and clarification with fresh egg whites make all the difference in the winemaking process. The ageing process in oak barrels, the rest in the bottle and the passing of the years provide the character and bouquet that defines its wines and gives them their own name: Muga.
