Peculiarities of the elaboration: In 1724, Rémy Martin founds the distillery in Cognac and, in spite of the prohibition of 1731, Luis XV grants an exceptional derogation to plant new vineyards due to the excellence of its cognacs. From 1948, the Rémy Martin House mixes 100% of its cognacs from the two harvests in the heart of the Cognac region: La Petite Champagne and Grande Champagne.
It is made from a white wine with Ugni Blanc, Colombard and Folle Blanche, turbid, acid and with an alcohol content of nine degrees. This wine undergoes a double distillation in the alembic where the alcohol content rises between 30° to 35° and then reaches 70°. In this phase the distillate is called "water of life" (eaux-de-vie), a hard liqueur that must be tasted to be selected or not. Around a thousand samples are sent to Rémy Martin's house to be tasted and only 10% is accepted for the final mix. Rémy Martin is today one of the most prestigious Cognac Houses and its distillates a symbol of distinction and elegance throughout the world. Rémy Martin was a pioneer in the VSOP category.
Tasting notes: Deep amber color with golden sparkles, fruity aromas of ripe apricot and white fruit in compote (apple), floral nuances of violet and rose, well defined vanilla notes and caramelized touches and nuts (fruity aromas). hazelnuts). Uses in cocktails: For its high quality and finesse, it is recommended to take it alone, at a temperature of about 15° in balloon glass. For use in cocktails we recommend the Cognac Summit.
Ingredients: A piece of ginger root, ½ lime, 4 cl. From Rémy Martin VSOP, Sprite or SevenUp.
- In a low glass put a lime peel with 4 thin slices of ginger.
- Pour the 4 cl. by Remy Martin VSOP. Crush and add 2 to 3 ice cubes. Mix for 5 seconds.
- Complete with Sprite or 7Up.
