Developer: William Grant & Sons
Alcoholic degree: 40°.
Peculiarities of the elaboration: The Glenfiddich distillery was founded in 1886 by William Grant in Dufftown (Scotland) in the valley of the Robbie Dhu River, whose natural spring water is used to make its whiskeys. The first drop of Glendfiddich whiskey came out of distillery stills on Christmas Day 1887 and today is the most sold malt whiskey in the world. It is the only Scotch whiskey in Speyside or Highland that is distilled, matured and bottled in a single distillery.
Glenfiddich maturation process 15 years is carried out in three different types of oak barrels: barrels from the maturation of Sherry wines, new oak barrels and American oak barrels. In a second phase, the three malts obtained using a pine solera vat are mixed, that is, a vat where new vintages are mixed with old vintages and where essences and mixtures remain, since the vat is never empty below 50% capacity. Inside the solera vat, the aromas and nuances of the three types of wood come together, creating a harmonious whiskey full of nuances.
