Tasting note for Marqués de Cáceres Rosé Wine:

Vista-Vinos-Covigran

Intense yellow color with ruby sparkles, very bright and medium layer.

Nariz-Vinos-Covigran

On the nose, it is very fruity, with aromas of raspberry, currant and cherries in liquor, wrapped in balsamic nuances.

Boca-Vinos-Covigran

On the palate, it is a wine with body, structured, broad and deep, with remarkable acidity. The entrance is sweet and is countered with certain bitter notes in the step and at the end of the mouth that give it a lot of elegance.

Optimum service temperature: 7° C.

A pairing: Gazpacho de fresas.

Ingredients: 500 gr. of ripe tomatoes, 500 gr. of strawberries, 1/2 cucumber, 1/2 green pepper, 1/2 clove of garlic (optional), 50 gr. of hard bread, 50 ml. extra virgin olive oil, 20 ml. apple cider vinegar, salt and water to taste.

Elaboration:

- As in all gazpachos, start by chopping the tomatoes, the peeled cucumber and without the ends and the pepper. Place everything in a bowl with the hard bread moistened with water and let marinate for half an hour, with the vinegar and a little salt.

- Meanwhile, we remove the peduncle of the strawberries and chop them into pieces. Grind the vegetables from the bowl in the blender.

- Afterwards, add the strawberries to the blender and grind another bit, adding the olive oil and testing the point. When it is to our liking, we refine the contents of the blender passing the result through a fine sieve, where the skins and seeds that might be left will remain.

- Keep cold until the moment of serving. If you want to make garnish to serve separately, you can accompany it with croutons, strawberries cut into cubes and pieces of tomato.

Delicious!

Marqués de Cáceres follows the line of the wines of great typicity inheritance of the bordeleses who came to settle in Rioja in search of good grapes for their wines after the epidemic of the phylloxera that ravaged the French vineyard. However, a century ago (and less) the majority of the Rioja vineyard was white grape. The Forner Family, with a French feeling, now with Cristina Forner at the helm, continues to innovate to stay among the best valued and most recognized by the consumer wineries.

And it happened that in 1939 after the end of the Civil War, the country was an absolute chaos, there were problems to hire grape pickers and some grapes remained in the vineyard until November, developing some of them "noble rot", that is to say, were infected by a fungus called botrytis. With sweet and concentrated grapes of the Viura variety (although it could also be a minority of Malvasía or Garnacha Blanca) they began to make sweet and semi-sweet wines.
